Description

Position as a Tax Staff with one of the largest Class II Railroad companies in the US with a variety of opportunities in sales, use and property tax. Opportunity to interact and work with various levels of professionals within and outside the Tax Department. Excellent chance for the candidate to explore and learn about the different tax disciplines to build a lasting career in tax.

Responsibilities

• Reconciliation, preparation and filing of all assigned sales/use tax returns
• Research and analysis related to taxability of sales/use transaction within jurisdictions
• Reconciliation, preparation and filing of all assigned personal property tax returns
• Research, respond to and resolve tax notices in a timely manner
• Communicating with state/local jurisdictions throughout the country
• Special projects, as needed

Qualifications

• Overall minimum 3.25 GPA as an Accounting/Tax major, preferred

• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word; working with pivot tables, macro’s, etc.

• Good communications skills interacting with local authorities and internal departments
• Self-Motivated working independently, managing workload, and learning new skills
• Good organizational skills that can adapt to changes in the work environment and prioritize work to meet deadlines
