Job Title: Phlebotomist IIJob Description The primary responsibility of the Phlebotomist II is to assist in performing various assigned duties, troubleshooting, training, and making workflow recommendations. Responsibilities + Perform blood draws, label specimens, centrifuge specimens, record maintenance data, and decontaminate. + Update patient information and collect/store specimens according to established procedures. + Explain the venipuncture blood drawing and other specimen collection processes (e.g., urine, fecal) clearly and courteously. + Demonstrate techniques using straight needles and/or butterfly needles. + Fully understand and execute all physicians' orders. + Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes, label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test order. + Check all test requisitions or computer labels against scripts to ensure 100% accuracy. + Package specimens for transport and store specimen samples according to required temperature. + Accurately place samples in appropriate collection containers/tubes and follow specific protocols for transport to maintain specimen integrity. + Understand and comply with OSHA and DEP regulations. + Attend annual department trainings. + Answer telephone calls and read laboratory results to satisfy inquiries. Essential Skills + Valid Phlebotomy certification for the state of employment as required in some states. + Minimum of 6 months' work experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting. + Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite. + High School Diploma or GED. + 2-4 years of experience in phlebotomy. Additional Skills & Qualifications + Candidates with at least 6 months of experience are preferred. Work Environment The position includes 1 opening out of Inland Valley Dr Ste 103, CA; 1 opening out of Murrieta Ste 104; and 2 openings out of Ste 107. Sites that will need to be covered include Lake Elsinore, Murrieta, Temecula, and Fallbrook. Coverage needs can change daily based on call outs in the area. Working days are Monday through Friday. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $23.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
