FORESTER I (NONSUPERVISORY) (PERMANENT INTERMITTENT)/ – CENTRAL VALLEY DISTRICT / NATURAL RESOURCES / CALAVERAS BIG TREES STATE PARK

The reporting location for this position is Calaveras Big Trees State Park in Arnold, CA. This position will work under the supervision of Forester II (Supervisory).   

The Forester I (PI) performs professional duties in forest, range and watershed management working with the Forester II to administer a program responsible for district-wide forest and fuels management. Responsibilities include forest treatment project development, permitting, environmental compliance, contract development/administration and project implementation, including prescribed fire. The incumbent working with the Forester II will implement forest inventory surveys, administer prescribed fire monitoring plots and forest pest monitoring. This position will also develop and administer contracts, budgets, program purchasing and  grants. The Forester I will provide leadership, task assignments and skills development of a forest stewardship crew of up to 20 members.

The selected candidate is required to submit to a background investigation process utilizing Live Scan fingerprinting prior to appointment.

This position may work up to 1500 hours in any calendar year.

Per California Code of Regulations (CCR) 599.961 , this is a sensitive position, and therefore subject to drug and alcohol testing. It should be noted that testing is not mandatory, but is allowed to be conducted only if and when there is a determination of reasonable suspicion as defined in CCR 599.962 .

This position is designated as not telework eligible.

Special Requirements

• The position(s) require(s) a Background Investigation be cleared prior to being hired.
• The position(s) require(s) Medical Clearance prior to being hired.
• The position(s) require(s) a(n) Registered Professional Forester License License. You will be required to provide a copy of your license prior to being hired.

This position requires a Registered Professional Foresters License. The incumbent must be willing to work towards a qualification as a Type II Burn Boss.
