Cost Accountant | Walker, MI

Salary Range: $64,000 - $97,000 depending on experience

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain standard costs for materials, labor, and overhead.
• Analyze manufacturing variances and report on performance against budget.
• Perform inventory valuation, reconciliation, and obsolescence analysis.
• Prepare detailed cost reports, profitability analysis, and margin analysis.
• Identify and recommend cost reduction opportunities and efficiency improvements.
• Assist in the annual budgeting and periodic forecasting processes.
• Ensure accuracy of product costing and bill of materials (BOMs) within the ERP system.

Recommended Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 3-5 years of progressive cost accounting experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
• In-depth knowledge of cost accounting principles, GAAP, and inventory valuation methodologies.
• Proficiency with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify cost drivers and analyze variances.

Bonus Qualifications

• Experience with specific ERP costing modules (e.g., SAP CO, Oracle Cost Management).
• Certification or practical experience with Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma methodologies.
• Proficiency in data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau) for presenting cost insights.
• Advanced SQL skills for data extraction and analysis.
