Cost Accountant | Manistee, MI

Salary Range: $68,000 - $102,000 depending on experience

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain standard costs for raw materials, labor, and manufacturing overhead.
• Analyze manufacturing costs, variances, and provide insights into cost drivers and trends.
• Perform inventory valuation, reconciliation, and obsolescence analysis for raw materials, WIP, and finished goods.
• Prepare detailed cost reports, profitability analysis, and product margin analysis.
• Assist in the annual budgeting and forecasting processes related to production costs and inventory.
• Identify and recommend cost reduction opportunities and efficiency improvements in production.
• Support month-end close activities, including journal entries for COGS, inventory, and production variances.

Recommended Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 3-5 years of cost accounting experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
• Proficiency with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
• In-depth knowledge of cost accounting principles, including standard costing, variance analysis, and inventory valuation.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Bonus Qualifications

• Experience with advanced costing modules within major ERP systems (e.g., SAP CO-PC, Oracle EBS, Microsoft Dynamics 365 F&O).
• Proficiency in data visualization and business intelligence tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau).
• Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing principles or Six Sigma methodologies.
• Certified Management Accountant (CMA) designation or actively pursuing.
