Job Description

Business Operations Analyst (Accounting-Focused)

Location: Dallas–Fort Worth Metroplex

Position Type: Full-Time | Hybrid

About the Opportunity

Symbiotic Services is seeking a Business Operations Analyst with a strong accounting background who is excited to operate at the intersection of finance, operations, and technology. This is an ideal role for someone who wants to leverage their accounting expertise while driving operational improvements, shaping business requirements, and helping modernize workflows using automation and AI-driven tools.

You will begin by anchoring our financial operations—supporting core accounting processes and ensuring data integrity—then progressively take on responsibilities that enhance how the business runs. This includes analyzing processes, writing business requirements, implementing operational improvements, and contributing to technology-enabled transformation initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

Core Accounting & Financial Operations

  • Execute full-cycle accounting responsibilities including AR/AP management, reconciliations, and general ledger maintenance.
  • Lead month-end and year-end close processes with accuracy and timeliness.
  • Oversee payroll, expense reimbursements, and financial controls.
  • Support subscription and project-based financial management, including recurring billing, revenue alignment, and client reporting.

Business Analysis & Requirements Development

  • Document current-state financial and operational workflows, identifying opportunities for optimization.
  • Translate business needs into clear, actionable business requirements for system enhancements, automation, or cross-functional initiatives.
  • Partner closely with leadership and technical teams to ensure requirements are understood, validated, and executed successfully.
  • Conduct gap analysis and propose scalable, efficient solutions aligned with business objectives.

Operational Modernization & AI-Driven Improvements

  • Evaluate existing processes and recommend modernization strategies using tools such as workflow automation, AI assistance, integrations, and data-driven decision systems.
  • Identify inefficiencies and develop streamlined workflows to reduce manual effort and improve overall operational health.
  • Contribute to the selection, implementation, or enhancement of internal systems such as CRM, ERP, billing, and analytics platforms.
  • Monitor the performance of new processes and continuously iterate for quality, cost savings, and improved user experience.

Cross-Functional Collaboration & Strategic Support

  • Collaborate across teams to align financial operations with business goals and evolving organizational needs.
  • Provide operational insights, financial reporting, and decision support to leadership.
  • Support the annual budgeting process, financial planning, and operational forecasting.
  • Maintain and enhance dashboards that provide visibility into operational and financial performance.

Ideal Candidate Profile

Required

  • 5+ years of professional accounting experience, ideally in a tech-forward or small-business environment.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP, AR/AP workflows, payroll, reconciliations, and financial controls.
  • Demonstrated ability to write business requirements , process documentation, or workflow specifications.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skill set with an interest in process optimization and automation.
  • Proficiency in advanced Excel and accounting/financial systems.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate across diverse teams.
  • Highly organized, adaptable, and naturally curious about how operations can improve.

Preferred

  • Experience with subscription-based billing, project accounting, or recurring revenue models.
  • Familiarity with CRM, ERP, automation tools, or AI-powered productivity platforms.
  • Prior involvement in system implementations, process redesign, or business analysis initiatives.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field.

What You’ll Gain

  • Competitive salary + bonus potential
  • Hybrid work flexibility
  • Comprehensive benefits: health, dental, vision
  • Paid time off & holidays
  • 401(k) with employer match
  • Professional development in accounting, business analysis, and AI-driven process transformation
